Choose the most gorgeous dresses for your bridesmaids

Allusion Photography 2-1

Obviously, your wedding is very important to you – but so is for the special people in your life. Your bridesmaids, for example, will want to feel really special on such an important day for you – and while there are surely a lot of wedding planning elements you still have to think of, your bridesmaids’ dresses should definitely not be among the least important ones.

How to choose the most gorgeous dresses for your bridesmaids? Here are some great tips to help you with this:

  • Stick to simplicity, don’t go too crazy, and keep practicality in mind. You may think intricate dresses that imitate a ballgown are really pretty (and they are!), but chances are that these dresses will cost too much and will be quite uncomfortable too. Better stay with simpler designs and fabrics, as well as with affordable choices!
  • Leave it up to your bridesmaids. A simple way to choose dresses your bridesmaids will actually like? Send them some color swatches and brief guidelines on what they should wear, and leave it up to them to make the final choice. After all, every woman knows what suits her – and your bridesmaids make no exception. Also, keep in mind that you can connect your bridesmaids’ looks with the bouquets too, not just with the color and/or general design of the dresses.
  • Whatever you do, remember that your wedding will only last one day. Your friendships, on the other hand, are forever. There’s no point in risking your friendship over a dress – so make choices your bridesmaids will actually appreciate and they will look splendid!

Every wedding should have a gorgeous color scheme!

Allusion Photography

Your wedding’s color scheme is more than important for the overall look and “feel” of this special day in your life. And yet, choosing just a couple of colors from such a wide range of choices can feel almost impossible when you don’t even know where to start.

If you are lost for ideas and don’t know what colors to choose for your Big Day, be sure to read on and find out more:

  • The venue matters. Take a very good look at your venue and how it looks. Think of colors that work well with what you have – otherwise, you might have to invest in extra-elements for your wedding décor.
  • The skin tone matters too. You and your bridesmaids should feel complemented by the wedding color scheme. After all, you will be surrounded by these colors (and, in the case of your special ladies, dressed as well).
  • The season should be an inspiration. Take a look outside – what are the colors that dominate your wedding season? Steal some inspiration from “Mother Nature”- there’s no greater artist than that!
  • The colors should look great together. Do some research and learn about the basic color theories. Search up the meaning of each color. Imagine your color combinations together and think of ways in which your imagination could be brought to life.
  • Texture can make all the difference in the world. Adding some texture to your wedding color scheme can be a complete game-changer, especially if you want the décor to be chic and stylish.

Create a gorgeous wedding with a French inspired theme!

Allusion Photography

There’s something inherently elegant and timeless about the French – so why wouldn’t you take these features and bring them into your wedding theme? What does it take to plan a superb French inspired wedding? What are some of the best ideas with regards to this?

We have some tips for you – so read on to find out more.

Allusion Photography 2

  • The table setting. The French style is effortlessly elegant – so don’t over-analyze every detail on your guests’ tables. Miss-matched plates look really wonderful with this wedding theme – and so do the glasses as well.

  • The table décor. Your French inspired wedding should be really sophisticated – but that doesn’t mean you should spend more than what you have. Some simple, white table linens, with napkins decorated with your wedding monogram – this is the kind of simplicity everyone loves!

  • The drinks and the food. A bottle of wine and a carafe of water should be on every table, always. This way, you don’t risk that anyone takes a seat at a table where he cannot be served. As for the foods, don’t be afraid to go all-French and organize a delicious cheese and fruit combination. This idea would be healthy and it would definitely satisfy your guests.

  • The background. You may not be able to travel to France to have the French appeal – but you can definitely choose a space that resembles it as much as possible. Choose an awe-striking location for the wedding and your French-themed wedding will be memorable!

Be sure your groomsmen have the right boutonnieres for Spring!

Allusion Photography

You and your groom are the most important “parts” of the Big Day. But you surely believe your wedding party is very important too! How to create superb boutonnieres for your groomsmen and how to make sure they are inspired by the warm season outside? We have gathered some ideas to inspire you, so read on and find out more:

  • These pretty non-floral elements have been very popular in the last few years – and we can definitely see why. They are unique and they make for the perfect pieces of décor for a rustic-chic wedding. So, if you want a wedding inspired by the country side, boutonnieres that incorporate succulents and greenery would be a really wonderful choice!
  • With its amazing fragrance and delicate looks, lavender couldn’t be more suitable for a wedding in the warm season. Match sprigs of lavender with purple white spider mums to create beautiful summer-y boutonnieres for the groomsmen.
  • They have been increasingly popular with weddings too – and truth be told, they can be absolutely gorgeous. Wild and delicate at the same time, wildflowers are the perfect complement for a wedding that’s casual and unique at the same time – so they will surely look amazing as boutonnieres too.
  • White roses. Classy and pure, white roses are an all-time wedding favorite – so it is worth considering the option if you want your wedding to be traditionally elegant and fancy. Pair mini white roses with ribbons that match your wedding color and your groomsmen’s boutonniere will look really beautiful!

Spring has arrived! And what better way to celebrate than incorporating it into your wedding?!

Allusion Photography

As one of the most beautiful and most loved seasons, spring is an all-time favorite among brides of all kinds – and if you’re one of the ones who have chosen to tie the knot in this splendid season, you know very well why it makes for the perfect option.

How to incorporate the delicacy and elegance of spring into your Big Day? Here are some ideas you will love:

  • Flowery ceremony. Your wedding ceremony is one of the most important moments of your life – so you will surely want to create a décor for it that speaks about the importance of this event. For an awe-inspiring ceremony décor, we suggest you go wild on your florals: lush bouquets to line up the aisle, flower-decorated chuppahs and even flower petals for the aisle make for wow décor pieces everyone will love.
  • Low-rise centerpieces. Of course, tall centerpieces are still an elegant choice – but why not make your wedding centerpieces a bit more unique by going for the low-rise ones? The secret to creating elegant low-rise centerpieces is to choose arrangements that are very opulent and generous.
  • Special chairs. Your wedding reception décor is not consisted of centerpieces only – so make sure to bring spring into every detail of this special party. For example, chairs with floral prints on them will look extremely beautiful when paired with simpler table linens and flower centerpieces that go with the prints on the chairs.

Make sure your wedding reception follows an appropriate timeline

Allusion Photography

Your wedding day is going to be an absolutely unforgettable event in your life. Starting from the moment you open your eyes on the big day and ending with the moment you are back in your hotel room. This day is going to be exciting, exhausting and slightly scary as well.

Creating a thorough wedding reception timeline can help you put all the wedding highlights in the right order and give you some clarity of mind as well – Do you however know the appropriate steps your reception timeline should follow? Read on and find out more.

  • The cocktail hour. As the name suggests, this is the first part of the reception and it will last for approximately one hour. This is the time for you to get away with your photographer and shoot some photos, while your guests indulge in snacks and drinks.
  • The introductions and the cake cutting. This shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes total – and it usually involves mentioning the parents, the wedding party and announcing the entrance of the couple. The intros are usually followed up by the cake cutting. The reason this is after the introductions is so the vendor can then have the cake cut into individual pieces and ready to be served for desert immediately after dinner.  After the cake cutting comes the wedding toasts (which shouldn’t last for more than 10-15 minutes total).
  • The dinner and the party. Once the toasts are over, the first course is served. The dinner itself lasts for about 1 hour or so and it is followed by another 1 and a half hours of dancing. Of course, the timings are approximate, but if you have rented the venue for a very specific number of hours, you should try to stick to a stricter timeline.
  • 1st Dances – The night is usually kicked off by the bride and Grooms first dance followed by the father /daughter and the mother/son dances.
  • The bouquet and garter – The DJ usually saves this for the end of the night.  This is followed up by about 1 hour of dancing and a farewell to the bride and groom.

These lighting techniques will create a beautiful atmosphere for your wedding

Allusion Photography

Wedding lighting bears a huge importance when it comes to creating a very beautiful atmosphere for this very special event. What are some of the techniques you should know of before you decide on anything? We have gathered some tips to help you navigate the sometimes confusing lighting lingo – so read on and find out more.

  • Fairy lights or festoon lights. Usually used as interchangeable terms, fairy lights and festoon lights are more or less the same type of lighting – with the exception that the first are usually used indoors, while the latter are used outdoors.
  • Gobo lights. If you want to personalize your wedding with a projected monogram, you are looking for Gobo lights. Unique and modern, this type of lighting works especially with elegant, contemporary weddings.
  • Pattern projections. Want to make a simple wedding venue look more elegant and intricate? Hire someone to project beautiful flowery patterns or arabesques at your wedding. Doing this will instantly change the décor!
  • Up lighting. In general, up lighting refers to colored lights that are arranged in a way that emphasizes different areas of the venue (e.g. the dance floor, the corners of the walls, and so on). With modern technology at your disposal, you can choose pretty much any color you want for your up lighting.
  • Pin spotting. If you want to make your wedding centerpieces really stand out, use pin spotting lighting. This will project a very thin beam of light right through the center of your table, so that it makes the centerpieces look brighter and more elegant.

Searching for a photographer who will know how to capture the magic of the Big Day regardless of what type of lighting you choose? Contact Allusion Photography and we will bring in our experience, our talent and our true creativity!

Have you chosen a date for your wedding yet? Take a look at some lucky days, and days to avoid!

Allusion Photography

Choosing a wedding date is one of the first and foremost important steps in planning a wedding. How to make sure you choose a really lucky date, though? What are some of the myths and superstitions surrounding wedding dates? We have gathered them right below – so read on if you need a bit of inspiration.

  • According to the Jewish tradition, Tuesdays are considered to be suspicious when it comes to weddings. Furthermore, they also say that a wedding should take part after a new moon, which will also grant luck and blessings to the newlyweds.
  • In astrology, the beginning of the month is also considered to be quite lucky – so you might want to heed this tip of advice and settle yourself wherever you feel best.
  • 8th of August. Planning a summer wedding? Have it on the 8th of August, then! In some Asian traditions, the number “8” is associated with prosperity and good fortune. So, August 8th may be a great choice for your wedding date as well.
  • Depending on your religious denomination, you might not be allowed to have your wedding during certain religious holidays (or the fasting period preceding them). Before you type out the Save the Date cards, make sure to double check with your ceremony officiant and see for sure.
  • While Christmas is considered the most wonderful time of the year, and 4th of July is full of excitement, they may not be the best days to choose for your wedding. With many holidays throughout the year, choosing your wedding date around them may be better than on them, as many people usually have plans already made.
  • Last, but not least, don’t choose a wedding date because someone else suggests it, but because it makes sense to you and your love story. Regardless of what date you choose, know that your loved ones and friends will be there to enjoy your big day.

Do you know how to breakdown your wedding budget? Take a look:

Allusion Photography

We may not like this, but money does make the world go around. And while they have no connection whatsoever with true love, the truth is that you will need money to plan the perfect big day. This is precisely why planning a suitable wedding budget is so important – especially when you want to make sure that your dream wedding doesn’t come with a high cost for your finances in the first year(s) of marriage.

How do you do it? How do you plan and breakdown your wedding budget? Here are some tips to consider:

  • First and foremost, understand that different locations practice different prices. It may be shocking, but the difference between a wedding in one part of the US and one in another part of the country can go as high as a few tens of thousands of dollars. Sure, it depends on what you want for the big day, but it is more than important that you research prices at your chosen location before you do anything else.
  • Also, you should know that while there are no standard ways to breakdown the budget, there are some expectations you should have. For instance, the venue will most likely cost something around 40-50% of the entire wedding budget. Flowers will cost 10%, music will cost 5-10%, a planner will cost 10-15%, and so on.
  • It is also extremely important that you leave some “cushion” in your budget as well. In general, it is advisable that you leave at least 5-10% of your total wedding budget for unexpected expenses (such as having to pay extra hours for your band or DJ, for example).
  • Here’s a basic breakdown of what you can expect to pay:

Reception: 48-50 percent

Ceremony: 2-3 percent

Attire: 8-10 percent

Flowers: 8-10 percent

Entertainment/Music: 8-10 percent

Photography/Videography: 10-12 percent

Stationery: 2-3 percent

Wedding Rings: 2-3 percent

Parking/Transportation: 2-3 percent

Gifts: 2-3 percent

Miscellaneous: 8 percent

  • To avoid stress, allot 5 percent of your budget for a “just-in-case” fund.
  • Use sites like Wedding Wire and The Knot to help. They both have free budget calculator and forms to make this process a stress free one.
