Stephanie and Brian I have to say were really a change in direction for fall in Chicago. They seriously put me to the test. Stephanie and Brian have decided to wed in Mexico. I am so exited! The weather in Mexico is always beautiful. They will have such a beautiful beach wedding. Stephanie wanted to tie their destination wedding into her engagement session. This time of year has not been the most predictable with weather and really chilly! She promised me she could fight through the beach wear if I could find her the perfect location. If you ask me she had the hard task. I have been photographing the Chicagoland area for 10 years….I knew EXACTLY where I was going to take them. We chose a day at the end of September. It actually ended up being really warm out so she lucked out as well 🙂 I really wanted a location where she could get her beach photos but also give her some really great artwork she could hang on her walls. We used a chalkboard prop and tied in a few great photos for her save the dates. It really was a fantastic shoot. We had fun and the photos really reflect their personalities. Thank you both for spending those hours with me. I was happy to create your memories!
Engagement Photography for Dave and Lisa
Engagement Date: March
Locations: Granite Peak Ski Area in Wausau Wisconsin
This was an incredibly awesome session. As we sat and gathered ideas for their engagement session I asked Dave and Lisa what they liked to do together. When they brought up snowboarding I nearly jumped with excitement. One of the major things I love to do is skiing. I have been doing this since I was 5 years old and have been introducing my own family into the winter sport for the past two years. We had a family trip planned for March so I asked Dave and Lisa if they would like to join us for the day at Granite Peak Ski Area in Wisconsin. When they agreed I had started to plan everything for their shoot immediately.
That morning I put my photography gear into the strongest photo backpack I had, strapped on my boots and took off for the mountain. It was by far one of my most favorite shoots. Dave and Lisa expressed the idea of just having fun natural photos mixed with a bit of Magazine-artistic style. That is exactly what I gave them. We spent the day climbing ski hills, dodging cars and the best was watching Dave slide into 3 feet of snow as he checked out an area by a fallen tree. I had a really good time with this couple. Their interactions together and the faces they make are absolutely priceless. They made this day one of the best and most relaxed photography journeys I have been on!
Engagement Photography for Kristen and Michael
Engagement Date: January
Locations: Naperville Riverwalk in Naperville, IL
This was a great session for me. Very rarely do we get to shoot winter sessions. It is bitter cold in Chicago so couples generally opt for spring, summer or fall engagement photos. Kristin and Michael decided to fight the cold and have some fun. We headed out for a few hours to The Naperville Riverwalk in Naperville, IL. Being that it was winter most families were at the sledding hill and avoided the park. It was so nice having the entire area to ourselves not to mention the newly fallen snow from the night before was fresh and clean. By the time we ended our photographs I was in love with this couple. We spent the day freezing and laughing. I knew these two were the type I could push to really try some fum things. Just when they thought they were finished I pulled a sled out of my car and asked them to meet me by the hill. They happily agreed. Coaxing them to sled down the hill with their coats off was a bit more challenging. Once I told Kristin this was her chance to push Michael off the sled as hard as she could, she was ready for anything. It was a great day and we really did get some wonderful pictures for them to cherish for a lifetime. The memories of that day will always be awesome too!
Engagement Photography for John and Mallory
Enagagement date: October
Locations: North Western University in Chicago, North St Beach in Chicago, Tommy Nevin’s Pub in Evanston
I had so much fun photographing my couple from Evanston! John and Mallory met in college before they became engaged. When the two of them and Mallory’s parents walked in my office for a consult I knew this was a wedding I wanted to be a part of. Such a beautiful couple and wonderfully supportive parents. Just in the short time we have worked together I have become incredibly close with the family. Not only discussing the wedding but our lives as well. I truly believe in not only creating a great product for my clients but getting to know them as much as they will let me in. This family has really made me feel as though we have known each other for a lifetime. I love how much everyone is involved and how they care so much for this event.
We spent the day around Chicago. Not the normal Chicago everyone sees in the photos but a bit more intimate geared toward the two of them. The first stop was North Western University where the two of them met. We took several pictures here in many different locations. I think the most memorable for us all will be the photographs of John and Mallory signing the rock. Most students do this for fun, however neither of them had ever done this. I had them both write a message to each other on this rock and it was a great first moment that I got to share with the both of them. We then headed to the beach where we faught the cold weather and really got some incredible photographs. At one point we thought we could train the birds near the water to fly away on key…we were very wrong about that. It was quite a funny venture and a story I will have for a very long time. Lots of laughs and redos with that shot. In the end we did finally get what I believe to be one of the photos of the birds flying off while they were walking along the shore. We headed off to Nevin’s Pub where John and Mallory celebrated their engagement. The owners gave us permission to do some shots on the inside which made a perfect wrap up for our day in Chicago. This is one session that will remain with me forever!
